Kate Potter's
“Namaste" is 26 half hour Hatha Yoga television
shows written and designed by Kate Potter, and
filmed in the breathtaking locations of
Vancouver’s finest beaches, forests and studios.
Kate’s “Hatha Vinyasa” style is completely
original and is both dynamic and gentle. Always
moving, the sequences unfold asana by asana,
smoothly and clearly linked together with the
energy of the breath. Each of the 26 shows
teaches a unique flow sequence (vinyasa), and
takes Hatha Yoga to a fulfilling new depth.
Strength,
flexibility, and balance are all central to
Kate’s Hatha Vinyasa, but it is the grace of the
linking with breath that defines her style, and
the sense of “freedom in movement” one gains by
following this elegant style. It is this
choreography that lends itself so well to the
camera, and perhaps why the show is like no
other of its character. The show has been
described as “unbelievably beautiful”, by those
who have seen it. For those who just want to
watch and listen, expect to be mesmerized,
enticed into a state of calm. For those who want
a practice, you will be taken for a smooth ride,
an invigorating mind body workout that leaves
you rested and ready, inspired to live in a
world that requires so much of us.
When my husband showed me the
Namaste Yoga from FitTv, it caught my eyes. He knows what I
like, and he knew that I would fall in love with Namaste Yoga.
Sure enough, I stared at the TV, enchanted by the soft, flowing
yet energetic Yoga movements designed by Kate Potter.
Coming from a martial arts,
dance, and gymnastics background, I saw Namaste Yoga as unique,
graceful and flowing, and yet very dynamic and energetic. It is
artistically well designed by Kate Potter, an internationally
known Yoga master from Vancouver. Kate’s voice sounds very
soothing to guide the viewer through phrases of Yoga poses
linked together with breath. There was no straining, or profuse
effort being applied beyond a person's ability. I could easily
imagine that they were having fun. I believe feelings of fun and
enjoyment are key requirements for anyone to be able to turn a
healthy activity into a lifestyle habit.
Attracted to the Namaste Yoga
movements, I contacted Kate through email for the first time to
express my feelings about her beautifully and gracefully linked
Yoga postures. Together we decided to present a weekend of Yoga
in Orlando. I am very happy to know and meet Kate, learn Yoga
from her, and give a chance for many people to come together and
practice here. She is passionate about
teaching and is very excited to visit Orlando for the second
time.
“Kate Potter has devoted herself to Yoga for most of her life,
starting at the very young age of ten years old. Today, that
unwavering commitment and focus have earned her an extensive and
growing reputation as an innovative and inspirational Hatha Yoga
teacher. Indeed, many in the Vancouver Yoga community regard her
as a teacher’s teacher. Her extensive training includes studies
in India with renowned Vedantic scholar Swami Chinmayananda and
with the faculty of Yogic Studies at the University of Mysore.
She has done Advanced Studies with prominent American teachers
Rodney Yee, Richard Miller, Georg Feuerstein, Kali Ray and
Mukunda Stiles. Kate is a certified Yoga teacher and Yoga
Therapist. Her current teacher and main influence is Norman
Fischer, Zen priest, and founder of the Everyday Zen Foundation.
Kate currently maintains a
private Yoga Therapy practice in Vancouver B.C., where her
clients have included many prominent visitors to the city (Charlize
Theron hired Kate as her personal Yoga Teacher for three weeks
while she was filming on the West Coast). She offers regular
public, private, and corporate Yoga classes throughout the Lower
Mainland, as well as periodic Canadian and International Yoga
Retreats. Kate has regularly contributed articles on Yoga,
anatomy, Ayurveda and ethics to periodicals such as COMMON
GROUND and the newsletter of The Yoga Association of B.C. She is
in-house Yoga teacher to corporations such as Ballard Power and
Business Objects, and the Toronto Dominion Bank has commissioned
Kate to give daily Hatha Yoga sessions to 50 of their top
executives at their national convention. Her television series
“Namaste” is shown across Canada, the United States, in Asia,
and most recently, in France.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to
work together with the Yoga teacher of Namaste coming March 7 -
9 of 2008. Kate will teach all the finer details of the
postures seen on her show, as well as truly inspire you to make
every breath count.
